Berri is the commercial heart of the Riverland, on the Murray amid citrus, vine and irrigation country. Summers are long and hot – among the warmest in the state – so air-conditioning runs hard, and many properties also run pumps, cool rooms or sheds that lift daily power use. Battery payback in the Riverland

Will a battery handle the Riverland heat?
Modern batteries are built for Australian conditions, but in extreme heat a shaded, ventilated location and a battery rated for hot climates matter. A good installer will advise on siting and the right product.
Is the SA Home Battery Scheme still available?
No. South Australia’s Home Battery Scheme closed in 2025. Riverland homes now access the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program plus the REPS Virtual Power Plant incentive – both open in 2026.
How much is the battery rebate in Berri?
About $252 per usable kWh for the first 14kWh federally – roughly $2,520 on a 10kWh battery – plus, for priority-group households only, up to $1,030 through the SA REPS VPP incentive. The federal amount steps down at the start of 2027.
Do I need solar already?
No. You can add a battery to existing solar or install both together. The federal rebate applies to the battery either way.
